The Olympia Area SQL Server User Group (OASSUG) is a community of information technology professionals who have an interest in Microsoft's© SQL Server database products. We are a network of SQL server professionals in the Olympia, Tumwater, and Lacey communities that have a strong desire to explore and share the latest technological advances in database technology and how to apply them to real business solutions.

As being a Northwest Washington State organization, we are fortunate to at times have guest speakers from Microsoft® in Redmond

Topic: SQL Server Best Practices
Presenter: Greg Larsen
Details:  The month’s user group meeting will cover T-SQL coding best practices. The basics on how to code T-SQL statements to optimize your queries will be covered. In this session you will discover some of the common pitfalls that can cause T-SQL statements to run slow. A number of demos will be done to show how by making slight changes in your code will minimize the resources used to process your queries. From this session you will be able to take home a list of T-SQL coding guidelines to help you code more efficient T-SQL statements.

Bio of Presenter:

Greg has been working with SQL Server since 1999, and has been a DBA since 1986. He currently is the Lead DBA for the Washington State Department of Health. Greg holds both a MCITP Database Administrator and Database Developer certification. Greg has authored over 100 articles related to technology most of which have been related to SQL Server. Greg also hosts a website (www.sqlserverexamples.com) that contains numerous T-SQL code snippets
