SQL Saturday in Olympia!

The first Olympia Area SQL Saturday will be held on October 11, 2008 at the Olympia Center downtown. This is a free training event and Greg and Russ as well as others have spent untold hours working to make this event a success. The Olympia Area SQL Server User Group (OASSUG) is a community of information technology professionals who have an interest in Microsoft's© SQL Server database products. We are a network of SQL server professionals in the Olympia, Tumwater, and Lacey communities that have a strong desire to explore and share the latest technological advances in database technology and how to apply them to real business solutions.

As being a Northwest Washington State organization, we are fortunate to at times have guest speakers from Microsoft® in Redmond

Topic: Data Collection Component of SQL Server 2008

Details:

Greg Larsen will discuss the new Data Collection component of SQL Server 2008. This presentation will cover how the Data Collection feature can be used to gather, monitor and provide trend analysis for key performance indicators in your SQL Server 2008 environment. The session will discuss the architecture of the Data Collection component, how to configure it to collect statistics, and will review some of the standard reports available. Greg will also talk about how you can extend the data collection process by defining your own data collection routines.

 

 

Bio of Presenter: Greg Larsen

Greg has been working with SQL Server since 1999, and has been a DBA since 1986. He currently is the Lead DBA for the Washington State Department of Health. Greg holds both a MCITP Database Administrator and Database Developer certification. Greg has authored over 100 articles related to technology most of which have been related to SQL Server. Greg also hosts a website (www.sqlserverexamples.com) that contains numerous T-SQL code snippets.
